Finished or semi-finished components with such materials are obtained by heat treatment of polymers under catalyse. Therefore a new melting of such materials would be impossible; the high temperature would simply destroy the components. Nevertheless, such materials are resistant to higher temperature and pressure compared to thermoplastics. |
The thermoset materials are obtained with a base resin, a more or less fine reinforcing material and other additives. Such semi-finished products are available as plates, round casts, tubes. Duroplastics are high quality materials, appropriate for applications either with very high or with very low temperatures, resistant to mechanical or electrical stress, with very low absolute elongation and high resistance to alternate stress. |
