Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are soft elastic materials which can be reused several times. Duroplastic elastomers are elastic materials similar to a spring, if used at room temperature. Such materials cannot be re-shaped by temperature increase, because of their specific molecular chain-grid. Other additives such as coal are used in order to obtain the features required. Due to the elasticity, such materials are rather suitable for casting, but not for mechanical machining. Polyurethane / elastomers are available with hardness 20 to 98° Shore A & Shore D |
Frequent shapes of semi-finished product: plates and round bars Complex components are obtained with such materials rather by casting, not by machining. Features: - low rolling resistance - high loading capacity - high cutting and breaking resistance - high noise and impact absorption - long life and operating security - rentability |
